Children of Visitors to Australia can Study in Australian Schools
The rules for the children attending school in Australia while on a Tourist Visa may be different for the different States in Australia, as each State has its own Education Department.
The following can give you an idea of the rules, and costs involved.
Studying in Queensland, Australia while on a Visitor Visa
The Department of Education and Training’s (DET) Temporary Residents Admissions Centre (TRAC) assists families with temporary resident visas to enrol in Queensland state schools. This includes those on Visitor Visas.

Tourist Visa Enrolment Fee Structure
Fees for the duration of the enrolment are paid in advance.
The minimum period of enrolment is 2 weeks. Students on tourist visas cannot study for more than 13 weeks unless permitted by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
Once the initial application has been processed, extensions may only be considered by Education Queensland International in extenuating circumstances.

Studying in New South Wales, Australia while on a Visitor Visa
The Temporary Residents Program gives advice and support to enrol temporary residents into NSW government schools from Kindergarten through to Year 12.
When selecting a NSW government school for your child, please note temporary residents are not eligible to enrol in selective high schools, the selective component of comprehensive high schools and opportunity classes (OC) in primary schools.
A Visitor visa holder who is NOT accompanied by a parent, or not staying with a direct relative, is NOT allowed to enrol for school through the Temporary Residents Program.
You cannot apply online. Applications must be submitted in writing using the Temporary Residents Program Application form for an Authority to Enrol.
The application process for visitor visa holders (subclasses 600, 601, 602, 651, 944) can only begin when the child arrives in Australia. PDF File at schoolsequella.det.nsw.edu.au
