Average Full Time Adult Earnings in Australia in May 2017
The Australian Bureau of Statistics’ Average Weekly Earnings survey shows the Full-time adult average total earnings in May 2017 at $1,608.40 per week. This is $83,636.80 per year.
The ABS May 2017 report shows the Average Full Time Wages for Male and Female as:
Male average full time wage at $89,741.60. This is a rise from $62,800.40 in May 2007. An increase of 43% in 10 years.
Female average full time wage at $73,086.00. This is a rise from $50,575.20 in May 2007. An increase of 45% in 10 years.
Male – Female Wage Differences by Industry
An average Male, working Full Time in Construction, will earn 44% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Financial and Insurance Services, will earn 43% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Rental, Hiring and Real Estate Services, will earn 35% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Professional, Scientific and Technical Services, will earn 34% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Health Care and Social Assistance, will earn 31% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Transport, Postal and Warehousing, will earn 28% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Arts and Recreation Services, will earn 28% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Mining, will earn 24% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Information Media and Telecommunications, will earn 24% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Wholesale Trade, will earn 22% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Electricity, Gas, Water and Waste Services, will earn 21% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Administrative and Support Services , will earn 21% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Manufacturing, will earn 18% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Other Services, will earn 16% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Accommodation and Food Services, will earn 13% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Education and Training, will earn 12% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Retail Trade, will earn 11% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
An average Male, working Full Time in Public Administration and Safety, will earn 9% more than a Female working Full Time in the same industry.
These figures, in many cases, may be explained by Males doing more hours/overtime etc than Females, as these are the total wages, not calculated by hourly pay figures.
